Wasp Boost/Glider Back In Business

Last December, I experienced a horrendous day at the flying field that resulted in my bringing home four models that were damaged.  One of these was the Wasp glider.

This one didn't even have a chance to fly under power that day.  I was hand-tossing the glider for trim adjustments when one bad throw sent the model into a straight-up stall, followed by a dive straight into the turf.

Broken glider nose.

So, a little time spent this morning yielded a repair.

Originally, the design called for the sides of the 'piece-X' cavity to be made from 1/16 balsa strips.  These proved too weak to withstand any kind of a hard landing.

The new side pieces are cut from 1/32" plywood and are plenty strong enough to withstand other such mishaps.

A little application of yellow permanent marker color, and all is go...

Cheers!
