Launch Date: June 17th, 2022 - First 'Shoebox' Launch of the Season

This morning's weather proved to be ideal for getting out to Douglas County High School and getting at least one rocket flight accomplished.  Temperature was 60 degrees with little to no wind.  There was a bit of smoky haze present from a wildfire burning in Arizona. Colorado wind patterns often bring wildfire smoke from other states to the Front Range.

Only one model was launched today, this being my old Generic E2X, carrying a payload section containing an Estes altimeter.

I opted for a low altitude flight this time, since what little wind there was happened to be blowing in the direction of some operating park sprinklers. I did not fancy getting the model, or myself, wet.

Flying on an A8-3 motor, the model turned in a good flight with full parachute deployment and landing about 20 feet from the launch pad.

The altimeter read 120 feet. Nothing spectacular, but it was refreshing to finally get out and launch a rocket, having not done so in over three months.

Cheers!
