Thus far in the 2022 Binge Build, I've been gravitating more towards completing the glider models first. Alongside the recently finished Rascal rocket/glider, I have been busy cutting out the myriad balsa parts for the Edmonds Aerospace Deltie Airshow model.
Here is a progress illustration:
The three delta-wing gliders are now in various stages of assembly, and the fins for the booster rocket are cut out and glued up. The plans call for 3/16" thick balsa for these fins. I didn't have any on hand and didn't wish to go shell out extra bucks for the same, so I ended up cutting out the fins from 1/8" and 1/16" balsa sheets, then laminating them together. Even though it's a bit more time at the bench, it should work just fine.
This model has almost as many balsa parts to cut out and assemble as an Orbital Transport!
The nice thing is that the majority of them are gliders parts and will not require the extensive amount of grain-filling and sanding. Nice!
Moving on......
