"I'm Taking A Stand On This...!!!"

Last night, I happened to jump on-line to visit the Apogee Rockets website to check out the latest issues of the Peak of Flight newsletters.

I happened to run across the issue that contained Tim Van Milligan's article on rocket display stands (#597).

After reading this offering, I realized what a sorry state of affairs my own fleet was in when it came to display considerations.

Going back to my last post, it can be seen in the photographs that a number of my models are sitting on a mishmash of different stands. Several have none at all.

There are even a few 'motor-casing-glued-to-a-piece-of-cardboard' stands in the mix.

Shameful!

     Completely unacceptable!!!!

Must do something about this.

So, to remedy this overdue situation, I ventured into the workshop, broke out the woodworking tools and paint, and set to building attractive display stands for my fleet.

Here is the first batch:

Now only twenty or so more to go!

Cheers!

Eleven Days Past The Winter Solstice....Happy New Year !!!

 Greetings, All,

It's that time of year again.

The calendar on the BlastFromThePast Basement La-BOR-atory wall sez, "Time for the New Year annual write-up."

So here goes.

I don't have near as much to write about as I have had in previous years, as I must admit to being quite the slacker when it came to model rocketry activity:

No new rockets completed in 2024.

  Zero. Zip. Nada.

Except for a couple of booster stages.   This is not to say that I didn't do any building at all.  I made good progress on several different builds, but did not see any of them through to completion before the year-clock ran out.

Launches:  Twelve flights spread out over only two launch sessions.

Dismal....

I am at least happy to report that all twelve flights were highly successful with no CATOS, no crashes, and no models lost.

Bright spots in the year included the return to flying at the spacious field at Dove Valley Regional Park.  Over the past year and a half, flying has been limited to smaller parks.  This may have been somewhat of a factor in the dearth of flying sessions in 2024.

Another positive is the addition of a couple of new local rocketeers to our Front Range group. I think my launch annoucement mailing list is now increased to 17 individuals!

Anyway, that's about all there is to report, so I'll move on to the annual pics of the BlastFromThePast flight-ready fleet (Same models as last year - just arranged differently):

The 'Beeg'-sized Birds:

The "Meedle"-sized Birds:

The "Leetle"-sized birds:

The "Flights of Fancy" Birds:

And, of course, my favorites - The Gliders:

So, that's all there is for now.  Even though I'm not a big fan of making New Year's resolutions, I am highly resolved to get busy and get more models built and in the air throughout the upcoming year.

Thank you all for following along with this blog.

Wishing you a Blessed and Happy 2025 !!

Keep-'em flying.....
