The BlastFromThePast model rocket shop has been a virtual flurry of activity this past week. Good thing, because weather conditions outside have either been too hot, too rainy, or too windy to do much in the way of flying.
The nine-model binge build is now in full swing. Here are some progress pics:
All of the airframe body tubes for the various models are cut to length, and most have been through the seam filling and sanding process. Only the shorter BT-5/BT-20 tubes are left. I should be able to knock those out quickly.
Alongside the tubes, I have completed assembling the motor mounts for the larger models. A couple of them include hand-cut centering rings and motor blocks as I have depleted my supply of manufactured versions. Also in short supply were motor hooks, so most of the ones used here were fashioned from old windshield wiper spring steel.
Finally, the ol' X-acto knife has seen a lot of action as well.
Fins for the Nike-Smoke, Nike Apache, Mercury Redstone, Viking 4, and a BT-20 sized booster stage have all been cut out.
At lower left are all the balsa parts for a Rascal rocket/glider.
Moving on....
